Let's be real here, the first mark of heirloom furniture isn't that it comes with a black up touch up marker, that they know you are going to need to use. It's cheap particle board furniture that requires you to assembly literally 300 fasteners. I'm not exaggerating, there really are 300 required fasteners, to assemble a myriad of small particle board parts. As you can imagine this takes all day, so take that into account if that lost time is worth it to you or not. The instructions and the parts are actually clearly labeled. You don't have to read, you can follow the 27 steps by pictures. (and then repeat all the drawer steps 6 times.) Everything needs a good wiping down because it's covered in particleboard dust, but the finish is fine and not all scratched up or anything, it seems durable and abrasion resistant but would not handle any kind of impact or will dent and show particleboard. The box is very heavy (112 lbs) so there is no way it's getting moved around warehouses and shipping trucks without arriving with a few damaged corners. Don't worry, there really is a black touch up marker included. The drawers are very light duty and made up of particle board that you will need to place into slots and then nail 6 nails into the bottom of each drawer to keep the bottom in place. As long as you are only putting clothes in and not overstuffing the drawers there should not be much issue. If you wanted to stash a heavy coin jar, I'd think the bottom would eventually sag.You aren't sending this thing back, there are 100 pieces and they are only going in that box one way. They have it packaged with spacers to fill every sq inch of that box as a solid piece. You better like assembling 3D puzzles as a hobby if you think anyone is ever going to get that all back in there. It will get the job done, and eventually you'll leave it behind you leave your rental house or move into another apartment, move it to a basement, give it away, etc and won't be sad about it. When it's time to move the first time I'll give it to he landlord to not be bothered with moving it.The particle board bottoms of the shelves are grey on the inside, tiled with the company logo visible if drawer was empty. But we know we are getting Big Lots grade here, not Macy's quality. It's what you expect it would be like after you assembled a hundred (i didn't actually count these) cheap particle board pieces with 300 fasteners and 58 small nails. (I did count these). The drawers don't line up perfectly, it's a little rickety, drawer slides are pretty light duty, the thing is going to eventually fall apart and you'll have to get rid of it, but you know this going in.I realize this is not a high quality piece of furniture and I wasn't expecting high quality, so my 2 star rating is not based on great expectations; it is based on what should be expected from furniture of this type. What I expected was particle board furniture which would not stand much abuse, but would function properly and look acceptable. It does neither. Perhaps my expectations were raised by my pleasant experience with the matching night table, which I discuss in a separate review. I don't think that's the case, though.THE GOOD: The drawers roll nicely on rollers and the little rubber bumper pads are a nice touch. Assembled, it is fairly sturdy. The assembly instructions were easy to follow. Were it not for the bad things, addressed below, it would be a great companion to the matching night table.THE BAD: First, the top piece came damaged. While any product could arrive damaged, it is the sort of damage and the quality control (or lack thereof) associated with it that is the problem. Specifically, the damage is situated on the front and rear edges of the dresser top, about centered above the left side drawer. The damage consists of significant dents and associated chipped finish. It looks like the damage was caused by a retaining strap that was tightened too much. Here's the thing: No such strap was holding the piece, nor laying, in the box. Everything in the box was secured by tight wrapped plastic and was, in fact, secured neatly in the box. This tells me the damage was on the piece before it was packed in the box. Yet, despite the apparently hand signed inspection tag, the damaged piece went into the box. I would downgrade a product for damage that occurred during shipment (unless due to gross negligence in the way it was packed). But the fact that a clearly damaged item was put in the box warrants a downgrade. To add insult to injury, included with the hardware was a black magic marker. Since there was no need to use this to mark anything during assembly (and its presence was not listed on the parts list), it is clear that either (a) the finish on this product is often damaged, or (b) the damage was noticed and the marker was included as a do it yourself "repair" tool. Since it was sealed within one of the parts bags, I'm going with (a). Really?????That damage wasn't the biggest problem, though. I carefully followed the instructions and double-checked my assembly, so I know the following problem was not due to faulty assembly. Once assembled, only one drawer properly fit. By that, I mean it fit flush and properly when closed. The rest of the drawers overlap one another and/or do not sit squarely in their spaces. Since all the holes are pre-drilled, they were either drilled improperly and/or the boards are warped. With some effort and manipulation, I can get the drawers to shut, but they still clearly are not lined up right. The misalignment is obvious and I am sure the need to forcibly manipulate the drawers into place, or leave them partially open, will result in the whole dresser disintegrating in relatively short time. A final problem, which I was able to remedy by alternative means, is that two interlock pegs, necessary to fasten the sides of the drawer together, were missing. In short, I cannot recommend this item and only gave it 2 stars because of the ease of assembly. Was easy to put together and sturdy. Not too heavy to move. Some edges were chipped, might have happened during delivery. The outside box was completely damaged on all corners and hard to move into the house. The packaging of the product itself was good. Some of the hardware came with scratches and the finishing is easy to scratch. Even with those faults, it’s pretty sturdy and easy to put together. Because it’s pretty inexpensive, I think it’s worth what I paid for.I love the way this dresser looks but the quality isn’t great it’s just partical board. It came damaged on two of the corners like I’ve read in previous reviews. I honestly just think it’s because of the quality when it’s shipping it gets damaged. I ordered it for my baby’s nursery & it’s perfect size but for an adult I wouldn’t be able to fit much in it. It’s not that tall either so I think it’s perfect for a baby/kids room. I hope this review helps.
