This isn't my first time buying furniture, and I remember back in the 1980s when I'd go to a local store like "The Hub", or "Hecht's" that you'd get real wood furniture, solid - weighed a ton and made in America. I bought a very 1980s platform bed and dresser out of solid teak that cost me about $600: that's about $1600 today. By itself, this dresser was $1142.I just spent a good amount of money on a dresser that looks nice, but is not solid hardwood. It arrived with some obvious blemishes - but it also arrived filthy. I don't mean dusty, I mean it was filthy.Fedex provides the freight service and - just a warning - they only deliver to your driveway. They won't bring it in the house, and they certainly won't take it up a flight of stairs. So, you see the fun drama of two senior citizens dismantling a large dresser and taking it in by themselves. What could say "customer care" better than risking someone getting crushed by a 150 lb dresser falling down a staircase? After the joy of unboxing and cleaning, I was able to put it into place. The rails are nice (just super super greasy) and it takes two people to line up the drawers to put them back in. The part you want to know is "how did you get the drawers out?"My brilliant husband figured it out: there's a skinny toggle that looks like the "minute hand" on a watch. On the left side, press it down, and on the right side, push it up - then pull the drawer out. Some drawers were reversed and we don't know why.I was luckier than many others who've reviewed this. While the box was heavily damaged during shipment, the dresser itself had minor damage - but it shouldn't have any. The finish is rough in spots, and rather than looking like quality furniture - it looks like cheap knock down furniture we used to buy at "cheap furniture stores" back in the 1990s: the kind where you'd rent a truck and they'd load it up from the dock in a box.In fairness, a lot of what we bought like that in the 80s and 90s was plastic framed, and this is a wood structure. The drawers, while they look nice from the front - are not well joined. Curiously, the drawer base is nailed in and the nail heads frequently show through because they were either too long or someone used a power hammer to "speed it up".Don't speed up adding a base to a drawer. The box joints are not dovetailed, which suggests this was simply affixed together. Not proper for good furniture - this suggests its dowel joints instead, which is again the mark of inexpensive furniture. In this type of construction, you'd anticipate a ridge around the four parts of the box into which the base would slide, and then the back would be mounted onto its dowels and either glued or cam lock and nut.Love it ----- also got 2 nightstands....loving them all!!Love the deep drawers and ball bearing drawer slides. LOVE this whole furniture set. This is a large dresser if your room is small make sure to measure.I love this double dresser, but it arrived damaged!!! I am disgusted with Amazon’s handling of this issue. They said they could not replace it, and instead offered me 50% off the price I paid. I needed this dresser, and am so saddened that people don’t care about their job to ship, pack, protect, and safely deliver furniture or other large products with care and professionalism. Work ethic is non existent. I can’t even get the manufacturer to replace the top of the dresser! That would have solved the damage!!!This is a heavy long narrow dresser. The color is more of a grey than a brown. It has is very distressed look. The delivery service banged it up otherwise I would have given 5 starsLooks great, not sure why bottom drawers are shallower than the top, otherwise would be a five star. There is plenty of space as you can see the space between the floor. Had a bit of a headache with the manufacturer/cymax since they charged me once but actually sent two dressers. Otherwise a great buy as it came preassembled.Update: Still looks great, but some of the drawers have come loose. The drawers are made with fairly thin wood and the screws they put in didn't sit correctly. I think I can fix it but considering it's just a few months after purchase you wouldn't anticipate this. (Probably easier to fix rather than try and warranty)Overall, the piece still looks great, but considering the lack of depth for the entire unit, the shallow bottom drawers and the questionable craftsmanship I'd probably look elsewhere. We have this dresser and liked it so much, we bought it again. Everything is top quality. The wood is purposely not perfect (etched, colored, looks aged). We really like how it looks. The drawers work really well. The felt in the top drawers is a nice touch. And, it's big. This is an excellent value! We had one minor issue, and the seller (Cymax) reached out to fix it right away.I thought I'd already reviewed this, as I have purchased two of them, having had to return one because it arrived broken. This is finished poorly, with so much wood grain exposed that it is nearly impossible to keep any plane surface free of dust. Normal household dust fills the dips in the grain, and the top has to be washed, rather than dusted, to clean it. In just a day or two the dust will collect and show the wood's growth rings. Also, the drawers don't stay closed. And Amazon is not ready to be your furniture dealer, as this was supposed to be in stock and ship in 1-2 days, but both orders took several weeks to leave the warehouse and another week to arrive. Note that this 185 pound dresser will only be dropped at your front door. You will have to remove it from the pallet, dispose of a large quantity of packing material including planks of wood, and carry it into your home by yourself. The drawers are not removable, which would lighten the load.
